Graduation

Plan A: Graduation on Friday night, June 6, in the stadium at 6:30 p.m.

Plan B: If it rains on Friday night, we will have graduation on Saturday morning in the stadium at 9:00 a.m.

Plan C:  If we have rain on Saturday morning, we will have graduation on Saturday morning in the auditorium at 9:00 a.m.

Graduation Rehearsal
Graduation rehearsal will be Friday, June 6, 2008 from 8:00a.m. - 11:00a.m. All seniors planning to attend the Commencement program on Friday, June 6, are required to be present at the rehearsal.  ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!!  Wear acceptable school clothes for practice.  No hats, sunglasses or caps are to be worn for inside rehearsal activities. Seniors must report to the auditorium by 8:00a.m. on Friday, June 6.  If necessary, seniors will eat on the first lunch shift (with your cooperation, this should not be necessary). All obligations and fines to the school must be met by 1:15, Thursday, June 5.  Pay all fines well in advance to Mrs. Reddish in the office.  Diplomas will be held for those who have not paid their fines. VIC seniors must make necessary arrangements with employers in order to attend rehearsal.  There should be no conflicts. Seven tickets for seating in the football stadium will be distributed at rehearsal, three of those tickets will be designated emergency rain tickets for auditorium seating. Clean out your lockers (hall and locker-room) no later than 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 5.

Commencement
All seniors must be in the PHS auditorium by 5:15 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2008 for the start of commencement. Seniors will wear their cap and gown in the prescribed manner, as well as the following apparel:  Females - Light colored dress and shoes.  Males - Light colored collared shirt (short sleeves), dark slacks (no shorts), tie/shoes/socks (no sneakers or athletic shoes). Ticket holders will be admitted starting at 5:30 p.m.  Children will also require a ticket to be admitted.   If graduation is held outside, non-ticket holders will be admitted after graduates have entered the stadium.  There is no guarantee of seating.  No one will be permitted to stand in front of the bleachers or along the fence.  If graduation is held inside due to inclement weather, there are a limited amount of first-come, first-served seats in the cafeteria. Parents and friends are to take pictures before or after the ceremonies.  They will not be permitted to leave their seats in the stadium or auditorium to take pictures during the program.  A professional photographer will take a picture of each student as diplomas are presented. We cannot be responsible for valuables left in the gym during the program!  Leave them in your car or with your parents.

Parking
Parking will be at a premium on graduation day.  Carpooling is strongly recommended and encouraged.  Please be prepared to park as directed by the staff on site.  With so many cars arriving in such a short period of time, your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Parking in the event of inclement weather will be challenging.  We will send home additional parking information with your senior, if necessary, when they receive their tickets. Exiting after completion of commencement exercises will be handled a bit differently this year.  Please note that traffic exiting PHS by way of the traffic light will be in two lanes.  The left lane will only be permitted to turn left, the right lane will only be permitted to go straight or turn right. Those cars choosing to use the upper “bus” exit, will only be permitted to turn right.
