From the desk of Peter Callahan, Principal:
As the cold winds of winter chill us to the bone it is important to reflect on the successes we have had so far this school year and look forward to the opportunities ahead of us. Our Freshman Academy has had the desired effect of helping our Ninth Graders make the transition to high school. Also, our new STEM Academy has also been successful in providing a rigorous course of study for students interested in careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We are now in the second (spring) semester, and we may start to anticipate the additional positive changes of the spring time of year.
Students are reminded to take advantage of the change in semester to refocus and rededicate themselves to academic excellence. If you begin to fall behind, please see your teachers, and get the help you need. We have after school programs to help students who are struggling in classes, or who need to make up work. Please take advantage of all PHS has to offer you. I also ask parents and guardians to check the GO system regularly to make sure your students are doing well, and if you have any concerns call your student’s guidance counselor.
Have a great second semester, and remember spring is right around the corner.
