Middle States Parent and Community Invitation
Throughout its history, Perryville High School has been accredited by the Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Middle States Association evaluates and accredits more than 3,500 schools in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States as well as Puerto Rico and parts of the Middle East. As a member school, we are required to undergo a periodic self-study of our adherence to twelve internationally recognized standards of commitment to continuous improvement and attainment of excellence. We have been engaging in that self-study this year. Next November, we will host a team of visiting educators from throughout the region who will evaluate our plan for school improvement and the capacity of our school to fulfill our mission and the vision we have for the success of our students. The results of our work are of vital importance to the entire Perryville community and we can't complete a meaningful self-study without input from parents and interested community members. Therefore, we would like to invite you to attend a meeting at PHS to review the process in greater detail, and to obtain your input.
The meeting will be held at the school on Wednesday evening, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. To help us plan for the evening, please email Mrs. Melissa Davisson, the school lead secretary, at mrdavisson@ccps.org or call her during school hours at 410-996-6000, if you intend to participate. Please contact Mrs. Davisson by May 18.
The Perryville High School National Honor Society (NHS) is having a fundraiser night at the Susky River Grille (formerly Portside) in Port Deposit. It is Wednesday, February 11 from 5 - 9 p.m. All you have to do is say you are there to support Perryville's NHS and they will get a portion of the profits that night. The funds are going to be used for the annual senior citizen dance that the NHS sponsors. Address: 600 Rowland Drive Port Deposit MD 21904. They are located in the heart of downtown Port Deposit, on Main Street, behind the Post Office. They are the only restaurant directly on the water. The phone number is 410 378 4600.
The Perryville High School National Honor Society is sponsoring their annual Senior Citizen Dinner Dance on Friday, March 20 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. It is free for local senior citizens, however RSVPs are required by March 6. The theme this year is "Spring Fling" and they have a local DJ as well as local restaurants catering the event. NHS still needs donations of materials, such as decorations, balloons, and bottles of water as well as monetary donations. If you know of a local business that would like to donate or if you know someone who would like to attend the event, please contact Mrs. Forman at sforman@ccps.org
Have you ever wanted to do something that would change someone's life? Looking for an easy way to make a difference? You can share hope for a world free of cancer by supporting the American cancer Society Daffodil Days program. By giving daffodils or reserving a bunch for yourself, you'll not only enjoy beautiful flowers, you can fight back against cancer and help save lives. Chances are you or someone you know has been touched by cancer. Let's help build a future where cancer no longer threatens those we love. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society's important efforts to eliminate cancer. Please contact Mary Carol Durange (nurse, mcdurange@ccps.org), or Donna Sheets (ext. 132 or dsheets@ccps.org) to request your daffodils today. The items you can reserve include:
| |

| |
Potted Mini-Bulbs = $10.00 |
| |
Bear and a Bunch or Pot = $25.00 |
| |
Gift of Hope = $25.00 |
The deadline for orders is 02-18-09. Daffodils will arrive on March 17,2009.
For more information about the American Cancer Society's lifesaving programs and support services, call 1-800-ACS-2345, anytime, day or night, or visit www.cancer.org.
The Cecil County Public Schools will use the ConnectEd calling system to alert parents of decisions made to close or delay school on winter mornings due to inclement weather. Parents should expect this call between 5:45 a.m. - 6:15 a.m. This will allow working parents advance notice if alternate child care plans are necessary. In addition, inclement weather information will appear on local television stations and can be heard on the radio. Questions regarding this process should be directed to your school principal.
Martin’s Food Stores will donate to PHS an amount equal to 1% of your total bill each time you shop there. There is no cost to you. You must reenroll each year.
